Chang-Chun "Samantha" Chen

Chang-Chun "Samantha" Chen, a Ph.D. student, studied angular momentum transport and magnetohydrodynamic instabilities under the mentorship of Prof. Patrick Diamond. Chen was interested in how accretion disks around black holes and protostars interact with magnetic fields, as well as the formation of spinning bipolar jets.

After attending UC San Diego, Chen is a postdoctoral researchers at LANL.

Prior to attending UCSD, Chen completed an undergraduate degree in physics and a year of graduate research at National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan). There, she developed skills in observational radio astronomy as a contributor to the Acatama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) program.

In 2015, Ms. Chen won a Research Creativity Award from Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology for her work on star formation and bipolar outflow kinematics.
