Dr. Malkov began working at the Center for Space Sciences and Astrophysics in 2000. His research focuses on cosmic rays and plasma astrophysics, including plasma kinetics and computational fluid dynamics.
Beyond the university, Dr. Malkov provides technical expertise to NASA and several international science foundations. Occasionally, Dr. Malkov teaches and co-advises graduate students through UC San Diego.
In 1983, Dr. Malkov earned a Ph.D. from the Space Research Institute in Moscow. During the 1980s and 1990s, he worked as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Germany and the Space Research Institute in Moscow as well as a lecturer at the Moscow Physical Technical Institute in Moscow.
