Taurean Zhang conducted research at the intersection of plasma and computational physics. He won a 2022 Malmberg Award from UC San Diego's Department of Physics. The John Holmes Malmberg Prize is presented annually at commencement to a graduating physics student who is recognized for potential for a career in physics and a measure of experimental inquisitiveness.

Mr. Zhang pursued a bachelor's degree in physics at UC San Diego. He has advanced skills in many programming langugages, including Python, PHP, MySQL, Java, HTML, and CSS. These and other technical skills were cultivated during his 6 years of work in the computer science/IT industry.

During high school, Mr. Zhang received a scholarship from the National Honor Society, and also competed in southern California's Solar Cup Challenge and at Bay Math League events.
